Vocal and instrumental ensemble

Created and directed by brother Jean-Dominique’s Abrell, op., the professional vocal and instrumental ensemble Energeia varies according to circumstances. It primarily explores (but not exclusively) Western art music from the Sixteenth to the Eighteenth century. It is an area of research, diffusion, creation and specialized formation.

  • The search for a renewed study of old treaties and their interpretation is guided by the will of restoring the primacy of speech in rhetoric. This research leads to a dramatic eloquence that can not be reduced to the desire to please (delectare) but must overwhelm the listener (movere) in order for him to access to self-knowledge (docere).
  • Diffusion in order to accompany, guide, and arouse the listening and the understanding of emotions, in connection with other arts.
  • Projects of creation, in connection with works commissioned by Mallié Loïc and by Thierry Pecou (2013), and in partnership with the Dance Company Bendongué Fred (2014).
  • Specialized formation by the proposal of stages and conferences and meetings with schools and sessions either in Rhônes-Alps or overall the national territory.
