Introduction

La Tourette was built between 1953 and 1960 in Eveux (near Lyon) and is the last major work of Le Corbusier in France. The strength, the richness and the complexity of the masterpiece is so extraordinary that in 1986 it was chosen by French architects as the second most important modern architectural project, the Centre Pompidou in Paris designed by Piano and Rogers being number one.
